Many movie critics live in a different environment than most, and they percieve things differently, so why should their opinions matter to me?

Why is it that appreciating things like beauty and purity, which were appreciated in the past, is considered strange and foreign and corny like even this statement probably sounds?

It's not so much the decadence in the media that is disturbing, but the general public's acceptance, embracing, and its intense devotion to remove all that would stand in the way of it.
